New 16T PPMS installed in the CfAS Physics Laboratory

The new 16T Physical Properties Measurement System (PPMS) from Quantum Design has been installed in the CfAS laboratory in Physics. The 16T magnet has been built by Oxford Instruments, one of the CfAS partners. The PPMS is funded both by the CfAS as well as Oxford John Fell Fund and this instrument will allow scientists to study the intriguing physical phenomena of novel superconductors in very high magnetic fields over a very large temperature range from liquid helium temperatures towards high temperature above room temperature.
